Finally, a stroller/car seat.

So, we’ve been stuck on the car seat and stroller purchase for a while now. It’s a very confusing thing to purchase, there are literally hundreds of options. Most of them gigantic. I mean, seriously SUV like in quality size and shape. Every option imaginable.

We have been trying to figure it out for a while now, and finally we were heading down today to purchase something. Most likely, just a car seat since that is what we needed to leave the hospital. While there, we fortified ourselves at the Starbucks next to Babies R Us at Southcenter. While there, a couple in line behind us had a nice set up, it’s a frame that the car seat snaps into and becomes a stroller. Small footprint, and pretty nice with a big basket below it, and light, oh so light. We talked to them, asked them what they thought of it, and they said they had both, a “Travel System” and the frame. They said they hardly ever use the big travel system, and just use the frame one.

I’d read about them, the book I rely on said it was a good option, but I hadn’t seen one up close and the pictures were kind of small and not detailed in the book. But seeing it, and hearing about from some parents was nice. We went next door fortified in knowledge and caffeine, and went and purchased what we needed.

We went with the Baby Trend brand, it was cheaper, lighter, and the handle on the car seat was more comfortable for me. The color scheme was actually coincidentally appealing. :)

There, we got it, finally. Once he outgrows this, we can get a simple umbrella stroller and call it good. We hate those big bulky SUV strollers, in crowds and at malls and stuff. Parents wield them like blunt instruments and bash their way through, and it’s always been a thing of ours to avoid that. But when you go shopping, they batter you into thinking this is the only way to go. There are probably 12-15 full size strollers, and only 2 frame carriers on display at Babies R Us. Why? Probably higher profit margins on the big ones, the frame was only $50, where the travel system all in one stroller was $250.

Phew. One big purchase down. Next, a crib…
